Nail Sequence
How-To Guide: From Screen to Art
Required Equipment
Board: A sturdy wooden board (MDF, plywood). Paint it your desired background color.
Nails: Small panel pins or wire nails (e.g., 20mm length).
Thread: Embroidery floss, crochet thread, or sewing thread. High contrast with the board is best.
Tools: Hammer, pliers, measuring tape, printed nail template.
Nailing the Board: Step-by-Step
1. Create Your Template: After generating your art, click the "Download Image" button. This saves the preview with correctly positioned nail dots.
2. Print to Scale: Use a graphics program (like GIMP) or an online poster-printing service to print the template to the exact dimensions of your physical board (e.g., 50cm x 50cm).
3. Position the Template: Carefully center the printed paper template on your board and tape it down securely so it doesn't move.
4. Hammer the Nails: For each dot on the template, use pliers to hold a nail upright and steady. Tap it gently with a hammer to start, then hammer it in until it's secure.
5. Consistency is Key: Ensure all nails are hammered to the same depth and are as straight as possible. This will make wrapping the thread much easier. Once done, you can carefully tear away the paper template.
6. Numbering: Nail #1 is at the very top (12 o'clock). The numbers proceed clockwise. You can lightly pencil the numbers next to the nails on the board for easy reference.
Thread Selection
Beginners: Standard sewing thread is a great choice.
More Detail: Thinner threads (like single-strand embroidery floss) create finer details but require more lines.
Bolder Look: Thicker threads (like crochet thread) will fill the image faster but may obscure fine details.
